Still Stuck in the Same Spot? (You're Not Actually Behind)

GOD I know it can feel like that… Where a year, a month, or even a day feels like it’s moving at a glacial pace because you think you’re behind.

It’s like watching something move when you have the pressure directly over it. Almost like you’re trying to control the pace with your own eyes hawking over it as if to say “MOVE FASTER”. The constriction you feel is actually such a huge lack of trust that is choking the natural flow that life needs to do its thing.

You’re doing this to yourself.

Your belief of being behind is choking the natural flow of your life.

Why do you feel like you’re behind? Let’s start there. I want you to tell me the metrics you’re using right now. Is it that you don’t have a spouse? That you aren’t in your dream job? Or maybe you haven’t purchased a house yet… I get it. I think every single person has haunted themselves with a version of this metric system at least ONCE in their lifetime, but here’s the thing.

Change the metric system, change the game.

You actually have the power to shift your mindset entirely - and give yourself the upper hand. This is less about temporary relief from the things you think will make everything better - and more about being able to align with what IS meant for you (but you might not even realize it yet).

See, sometimes we don’t even want the things within the metric system we’ve been using. And at the very least - not in that order. Most of us just want to feel safe, seen, and to be perceived as normal, so we set our sights on trying to achieve the goals that everyone else has.

FAIR…

But when you figure out that you can change the metric, you will start to feel more confident about yourself, which is the foundation you need to start aligning with the life you truly desire.

So what do I mean by “change the metric”?

There’s this awesome quote that apparently came from Einstein, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it’s stupid.”

So hypothetically the fish would feel behind because his peers are all climbing a tree and he is not. The fish needs to change his metric system, and so do you.

What are you naturally good at? What do you enjoy the most? What inspires you?

These are all questions you need to ask yourself, especially if you’ve been on autopilot up until now - and you’ve only pursued the things you think ‘should be important to you.

There’s a reason things are moving slowly, even if you can’t see it yet. Changing the metric will allow you to not only see things from a different perspective, but it will allow you to start aligning your true desires with your life and the new values you are integrating during this time.

Celebrate where you are right now, and allow the pace at which you’re moving because you might find you actually want more for yourself than what you expected.
